Visit the home of the UK's widest variety of spirits & liqueurs distilled under one roof.
The Grade II listed Black Barn at Great Yeldham Hall is nearly 200 years old, and is home to many things. Twenty copper pot alembic stills; the home of English rum; a tasty collection of scratch distilled spirits & liqueurs that can't be found anywhere else; and a very nice team of people keeping it all ticking over. In short: ours is a distillery unlike any other in the UK, and we're delighted to welcome visitors to show them the process of distilling fine spirits.
COVID secure Distillery Tour & Tastings postponed until 2021
Due to Tier 2 COVID restrictions being implemented across Essex from Friday 16th October, we have unfortunately had to postpone all booked tours for the foreseeable future. All current bookings can be rescheduled for any time in 2021, and new bookings may still be made for tours from 9th January 2021. We will review this date at the beginning of January and decide on whether tours may continue. If you'd like to reschedule your booking or find out anything else, please contact us via , or 01787 237896. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you soon.
We are pleased to be able to offer a COVID secure version of our Distillery Tour & Tasting experience, so that visitors can enjoy seeing our distillery and tasting our collection with peace of mind. At present we are offering these tours on weekday evenings at 5pm, and Saturdays at 11am, 2pm and 4pm.
We've established a series of safety measures for the protection of staff and customers. This includes reducing the maximum group size from 20 people to 10 people, and the duration of the tour has been reduced from 90 minutes to 60 minutes. A wide variety of samples from our world-class range are still provided: these will be given in 50ml bottles rather than poured into tasting cups. The full range of measures is given below.
We hope that disruption to your experience is minimised, and that you'll still enjoy your visit. Please bear with us as we trial these measures, and adapt as necessary as the situation continues to unfold.

On the tour, guests will be shown around our working small batch distillery, and be able to see our customised copper pot alembic stills up close. You'll learn about how a wide selection of spirits are distilled, from scratch: including vodka, gin, rum, brandy, single malt and much more.
We'll also give an overview of our brand's history, as well as that of the spirits: and lots of chances to ask questions about how the spirits are made too.
Guests will then move into the adjacent Tasting Room, to enjoy a tutored tasting of a wide selection of our spirits and liqueurs, including one off batches and special editions. And to cap it off: a chance to buy some of our collection to take home, at a special discounted rate. Perfect.
"A hidden gem in the Essex countryside."

“My husband and I have visited many distilleries, in Scotland, France, Spain and the USA, and we though we pretty much knew it all. We were wrong: there was much to learn."
