We are always open to speculative applications from lovely and enthusiastic people to join our team as field based Spirit Ambassadors, on a casual basis.

About Us

Simply put, our distillery is very different to all the rest. We focus our energy on making products that taste delicious, over all else: that’s why we create all of our spirits entirely from scratch. Which is quite impressive, considering that to our knowledge, we make the world’s widest variety of spirits distilled under one roof; throw in the fact that every last one of them is crafted to a quality standard not found anywhere else, and you start to get an idea of something that is quite unique and very special.

Founded in 2011 by Dr John Walters, a former biochemist and passionate cook, whose aim is to produce the finest spirits & liqueurs available in the UK and beyond. One of the first small batch distilleries to open in the UK, Dr John has more distilling knowledge and experience at the stills than any other small batch distiller in the UK. We employ many different techniques not used anywhere else, and make no compromises in the pursuit of perfection, regardless of time, effort or expense. We produce a wide range of products, all distilled entirely from scratch: vodkas, gins, rums (we were the first to distil rum in the UK), brandies, single malts, sambuca, and many more: as well as our ever popular range of seasonal liqueurs. The quality of our multi-award winning products is evident in the taste; with superior smoothness and depth of flavour; enjoyable by spirit newcomers and connoisseurs alike.

We are passionate about celebrating England through the seasonality of our ingredients and the heritage of our sites at Great Yeldham Hall (Essex) and Treguddick Manor (Cornwall). Ultimately, we aim to bring about a revolution in how people see, drink and even eat with fine spirits & liqueurs: and our Spirit Ambassadors are key to sharing our unrivalled collection of products with consumers all over the land.

The Role

We have a flexible range of opportunities available, suitable for anyone looking for casual work. These include:

  • Events - representing and selling English Spirit at a wide variety of events, ranging from farmers’ markets to some of England’s most prestigious food and drink festivals

  • Talks & tastings - taking English Spirit on the road, delivering talks and sampling at private events with a variety of clubs and societies

  • Trade - introducing English Spirit to bars, shops and businesses in your local area; and managing these accounts

  • Other - if there are any talents you can bring to the table that you think will help to promote English Spirit, we want to hear about them!

As a rule, wages work on a commission basis. You will receive 10% of all revenue that you generate from sales via events, talks and trade. You will receive a guaranteed minimum of £75 per day for events, and £50 for talks, with mileage paid for both of these.

The flexibility of the role means that you can concentrate on all of the above, or focus on just one element. Whatever you think would be the best fit for your skills, we’ll be happy to discuss a bespoke role that suits everybody best.

What We’re Looking For

A driving license and a vehicle capable of transporting our spirits are essential. Otherwise, no special experience or qualification is required. We are simply looking for enthusiastic people that are passionate about spirits and good times, and keen to share these with as many people as possible; willing to learn, and to show initiative to help us expand our brand at this exciting time.

Why work with us:

  • Product quality: If you’ve already sampled any of our spirits, you’ll know that each one is of a standard above anything else available; which tends to help when selling them!

  • Flexible role/hours: However many hours you are looking to work with us, we will seek to accommodate; to make things as convenient as possible.

  • Training and support: Full brand training and resources will be provided once you start. We encourage you to visit our Great Yeldham distillery, to see how our spirits are made first hand in our twenty small copper pot stills. Additionally, our central team will be on hand to provide any support or knowledge you require.

  • Your own box of samples: further explanation needed!
